The following exporters - Swaziland (X units), Mozambique (X units), Botswana (X units) and Egypt (X units) - together made up 10% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to centrifugal clothes-dryer exports from South Africa stood at -40.8%. At the same time, Mozambique (+56.7%), Rwanda (+39.5%), Egypt (+21.0%), Tunisia (+13.5%) and Botswana (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mozambique emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +56.7% from 2012-2021. Swaziland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Tunisia, Rwanda, Swaziland, Mozambique, Botswana and Egypt increased by +5.8, +5.5, +4.4, +2, +1.9 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest centrifugal clothes-dryer supplier in Africa, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tunisia ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 1.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa stood at -7.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tunisia (+28.5% per year) and Egypt (+17.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -4.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 959%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per unit), while Swaziland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+55.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of centrifugal clothes-dryers increased by 5.7% to X units, rising for the fifth consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 781%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, centrifugal clothes-dryer imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 714% against the previous year.
