South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the condensers for steam or other vapour power units exports, with a CAGR of +2.1% from 2012 to 2021. Mauritius (-11.2%) and Nigeria (-17.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Africa (+14 p.p.) and Nigeria (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Mauritius saw its share reduced by -8.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest vapour power unit supplier in Africa, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mauritius ($X), with a 9.5% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa stood at +6.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mauritius (+3.1% per year) and Nigeria (-27.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, surging by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a tangible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 102% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Mauritius ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mauritius (+16.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

In 2021, the amount of condensers for steam or other vapour power units imported in Africa shrank modestly to X tons, waning by -3.4% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 241%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, vapour power unit imports fell sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 183%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

Nigeria dominates imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 94% of total imports in 2021. Ethiopia (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the condensers for steam or other vapour power units imports, with a CAGR of +42.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Ethiopia (+15.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Nigeria (+50 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ethiopia saw its share reduced by -7.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
