In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest crawler tractor supplier in Africa, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kenya ($X), with a 7% share of total exports. It was followed by Namibia, with a 4.9% share.

In South Africa, crawler tractor exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kenya (+3.9% per year) and Namibia (+32.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, growing by 1.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 1,016%. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Namibia ($X per unit), while Morocco ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +96.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 89% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, Niger (X units), Zimbabwe (X units), Botswana (X units) and Togo (X units) represented the largest importer of crawler tractors in Africa, making up 59% of total import. Morocco (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 6% share, followed by Ethiopia (6%) and Ghana (5.6%). Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Madagascar (X units), Swaziland (X units) and Mali (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
