Rwanda, with a CAGR of +43.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

The export price in Africa stood at $X per square meter in 2022, with a decrease of -15% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 19%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per square meter), while Rwanda ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X square meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, curtains imports shrank to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. Guinea, with a CAGR of +25.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Africa stood at $X per square meter in 2022, waning by -3.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 18%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per square meter; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per square meter), while Rwanda ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+26.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
