The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Morocco (+47.0% per year) and Zambia (-3.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, faced a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 181%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while Botswana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

For the third consecutive year, Africa recorded growth in purchases abroad of diesel engines (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft), which increased by 55% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a resilient increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of diesel engines (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Egypt was the major importer of diesel engines (other than for motor vehicles and aircraft) in Africa, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was near 45% of total imports in 2022. At the same time, Botswana (+36.3%), Mali (+24.8%), South Africa (+12.9%), Kenya (+6.9%) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Botswana emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +36.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Mozambique (-3.4%) and Morocco (-4.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Egypt, Botswana, South Africa and Mali increased by +23, +5.2, +5 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was held by Egypt ($X), with a 4.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Morocco, with a 2.9% share.
