In value terms, disinfectant exports fell slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.
Exports by Country
South Africa prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2021. Ghana (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Kenya (X%).
Exports from South Africa increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kenya (+X%) and Ghana (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kenya emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. South Africa (+X p.p.) and Kenya (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Ghana saw its share reduced by -X% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest disinfectant supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kenya ($X), with a X% share of total exports.
In South Africa, disinfectant exports increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kenya (+X% per year) and Ghana (-X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, declining by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, disinfectant imports declined to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The purchases of the three major importers of disinfectants, namely South Africa, Egypt and Morocco, represented more than third of total import. Algeria (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Angola (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total imports. The following importers - Kenya (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Zimbabwe (X tons), Libya (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Tanzania (X tons) and Cameroon (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Cameroon (with a CAGR of +X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest disinfectant importing markets in Africa were South Africa ($X), Egypt ($X) and Morocco ($X), together comprising X% of total imports. Angola, Algeria, Kenya, Tunisia, Ghana, Libya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Cameroon and Nigeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -X% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of X%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
