Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units) held a 32% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Sierra Leone (4.7%). The following exporters - Swaziland (X units), Morocco (X units) and Kenya (X units) - together made up 7.4% of total exports.
From 2020 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kenya (with a CAGR of +356.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) emerged as the largest ceramic electrical insulator supplier in Africa, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Morocco, with a 3.2% share.
In South Africa, ceramic electrical insulator exports expanded at an average annual rate of +59.8% over the period from 2020-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Democratic Republic of the Congo (+4.9% per year) and Morocco (+238.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, rising by 78% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a significant increase. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Kenya ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2020 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+47.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa
Ceramic electrical insulator imports skyrocketed to X units in 2022, picking up by 81% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 641%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, ceramic electrical insulator imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Egypt (X units), distantly followed by Nigeria (X units), South Africa (X units), Mozambique (X units) and Morocco (X units) represented the major importers of electrical insulators of ceramics, together creating 82% of total imports. Tanzania (X units) and Libya (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Mozambique (with a CAGR of +49.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest ceramic electrical insulator importing markets in Africa were Nigeria ($X), Egypt ($X) and South Africa ($X), together comprising 62% of total imports. Libya, Mozambique, Morocco and Tanzania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.
Mozambique, with a CAGR of +17.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -51% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 500% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Libya ($X per unit), while Mozambique ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Libya (-10.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
