In 2021, South Africa (X units), distantly followed by Burkina Faso (X units), Tunisia (X units), Morocco (X units) and Congo (X units) were the key exporters of electronic machines and appliances for testing materials, together comprising 87% of total exports. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa stood at -8.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Tunisia (+22.4% per year) and Burkina Faso (+64.6% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, declining by -17.4% against the previous year. Export price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, electronic material tester export price decreased by -23.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 54%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electronic material tester imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild curtailment. The purchases of the twelve major importers of electronic machines and appliances for testing materials, namely Ethiopia, Morocco, Tanzania, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Uganda, Senegal, Nigeria, Algeria, Kenya and South Africa, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Guinea (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, the largest electronic material tester importing markets in Africa were Egypt ($X), South Africa ($X) and Algeria ($X), with a combined 35% share of total imports. Ethiopia, Morocco, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and Guinea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.

Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +16.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -7.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Tanzania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
