It was distantly followed by Tunisia (X tons) and Egypt (X tons), together achieving a 40% share of total exports. Morocco (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Morocco (with a CAGR of +35.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Africa ($X), Tunisia ($X) and Egypt ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 91% of total exports. Morocco lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 3%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Morocco, with a CAGR of +43.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, growing by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Egypt ($X per ton) and Morocco ($X per ton), while South Africa ($X per ton) and Tunisia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

Imports in Africa
In 2021, purchases abroad of equipment for scaffolding, shuttering, propping or pit propping was finally on the rise to reach X tons after seven years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, scaffolding, shuttering, and propping equipment imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight contraction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Morocco (X tons), distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Liberia (X tons) were the major importers of equipment for scaffolding, shuttering, propping or pit propping, together comprising 31% of total imports. The following importers - Tanzania (X tons), Libya (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Senegal (X tons), South Africa (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Kenya (X tons) and Ethiopia (X tons) - together made up 32% of total imports.
Imports into Morocco increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Liberia (+28.1%), Cote d'Ivoire (+24.4%), Senegal (+18.4%), Tanzania (+14.3%), Egypt (+12.0%), Ghana (+4.0%) and Libya (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Liberia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +28.1% from 2012-2021. Kenya and Democratic Republic of the Congo experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, South Africa (-5.8%), Ethiopia (-6.4%) and Algeria (-19.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco, Liberia, Egypt, Tanzania, Senegal, Ghana and Libya increased by +6.3, +5.3, +4.5, +3.6, +3.4, +3, +1.9 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Morocco ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported equipment for scaffolding, shuttering, propping or pit propping in Africa, comprising 19% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 7.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Morocco totaled +7.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Cote d'Ivoire (+20.0% per year) and Egypt (+12.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 17% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Ethiopia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
