In value terms, the largest flexographic printing machinery supplying countries in Africa were Swaziland ($X), South Africa ($X) and Egypt ($X), with a combined 95% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Swaziland, with a CAGR of +87.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, declining by -57% against the previous year. In 2022, purchases abroad of flexographic printing machinery was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 374%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, flexographic printing machinery imports reduced to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. While the share of Egypt (+13 p.p.), Angola (+5.2 p.p.), Senegal (+4.2 p.p.), Mauritius (+4 p.p.), Morocco (+3.2 p.p.), Cameroon (+3 p.p.), Kenya (+1.7 p.p.) and Uganda (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Tanzania (-2.8 p.p.) and South Africa (-31.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest flexographic printing machinery importing markets in Africa were Egypt ($X), South Africa ($X) and Algeria ($X), with a combined 41% share of total imports. Kenya, Angola, Nigeria, Tanzania, Morocco, Senegal, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mauritius and Cameroon lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 44%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Senegal, with a CAGR of +28.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, falling by -14% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 177%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
