The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 38%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic furniture exports rose modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Moreover, Somalia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +41.7% from 2012-2021. Mozambique experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, South Africa (-2.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Somalia and Libya increased by +5.7, +3.9, +2.3, +2.1, +1.9 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
