The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +15.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 34%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments rose sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Egypt (X units), Tunisia (X units) and Morocco (X units), together amounting to 82% of total export. It was distantly followed by South Africa (X units) and Madagascar (X units), together achieving a 12% share of total exports. Senegal (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Madagascar (with a CAGR of +53.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-woven, felt and coated textile garment supplying countries in Africa were Egypt ($X), Tunisia ($X) and Morocco ($X), together accounting for 94% of total exports. South Africa, Madagascar and Senegal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 4.2%.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 16%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per unit), while Senegal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (-0.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -11.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per unit), while Senegal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
