From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Morocco (with a CAGR of +32.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest glass in the mass supplying countries in Africa were Morocco ($X), Ghana ($X) and Namibia ($X), with a combined 64% share of total exports.

Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
South Africa (X tons) and Morocco (X tons) represented roughly 79% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Tanzania (X tons), generating a 13% share of total imports. Cameroon (X tons) and Togo (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Morocco (with a CAGR of +70.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Morocco ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported glass in the mass in Africa, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Africa ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Tanzania, with a 4.4% share.
In Morocco, glass in the mass imports increased at an average annual rate of +85.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Africa (-6.2% per year) and Tanzania (+20.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
