In value terms, grape juice (single strength) exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +141.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

At the same time, Egypt (+40.0%) and Angola (+26.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +40.0% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa amounted to +2.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Angola (+0.2% per year) and Egypt (+35.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (-2.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Moreover, Botswana emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +721.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Nigeria (-2.1%) and Congo (-15.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Botswana (+9.4 p.p.), Mali (+4.4 p.p.), Burkina Faso (+4.3 p.p.), Mozambique (+3.3 p.p.), Mauritius (+2.9 p.p.), Central African Republic (+2 p.p.), Ghana (+1.9 p.p.) and Kenya (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Libya (-4.7 p.p.), Nigeria (-11.8 p.p.) and Congo (-12.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Libya ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Botswana ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 52% of total imports.
Botswana, with a CAGR of +629.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Central African Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
