In terms of the main exporting countries, Tanzania, with a CAGR of +34.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Morocco ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+1.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Senegal (X tons), Cameroon (X tons), Togo (X tons), Kenya (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons) and Uganda (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for South Africa (with a CAGR of +35.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported gypsum, anhydrite and limestone in Africa, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Madagascar ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Ghana, with a 5.9% share.
