From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, South Africa (X tons), Kenya (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) represented the key exporter of hard rubber or plastic combs in Africa, making up 83% of total export. It was distantly followed by Rwanda (X tons), achieving a 9.4% share of total exports. The following exporters - Tanzania (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons) - each accounted for a 4.2% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Rwanda (with a CAGR of +183.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest hard plastic comb supplier in Africa, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kenya ($X), with an 8.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Tunisia, with an 8.6% share.
In South Africa, hard plastic comb exports plunged by an average annual rate of -7.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kenya (+19.4% per year) and Tunisia (-27.5% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (+16.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Hard plastic comb imports contracted to X tons in 2022, waning by -7.6% on 2021. In general, imports showed a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 44%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hard plastic comb imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 37%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In 2022, Ghana (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Tanzania (X tons), South Africa (X tons), Libya (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Angola (X tons), Cameroon (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) represented the key importer of hard rubber or plastic combs in Africa, comprising 67% of total import. The following importers - Djibouti (X tons), Somalia (X tons), Sudan (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) - each amounted to an 11% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Senegal (with a CAGR of +40.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest hard plastic comb importing markets in Africa were Ghana ($X), Algeria ($X) and Libya ($X), with a combined 36% share of total imports. South Africa, Cameroon, Senegal, Egypt, Angola, Djibouti, Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Senegal, with a CAGR of +48.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -5.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per ton), while Tanzania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cameroon (+14.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
