Libya (X tons) took a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Egypt (6.9%). The following importers - Mauritius (X tons) and Namibia (X tons) - each accounted for a 3.9% share of total imports.
Algeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the homogenised preparations of jams, fruit jellies and marmalades imports, with a CAGR of +18.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mauritius (+10.4%) and Libya (+10.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Egypt (-7.8%) and Namibia (-16.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mauritius ($X per ton), while Algeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
