The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hot-rolled bearing steel bar imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of hot-rolled bearing steel bar imports in 2022 were Ethiopia (X tons), Zambia (X tons) and Ghana (X tons), together reaching 57% of total import. Guinea, with a CAGR of +66.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Import price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, hot-rolled bearing steel bar import price increased by +22.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 28%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
