Moreover, Senegal emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +16.3% from 2012-2021. Moreover, Burkina Faso emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +13.4% from 2012-2021. Algeria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Ghana (-2.7%), Zambia (-6.0%), Nigeria (-10.6%) and Angola (-12.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Africa (+14 p.p.), Morocco (+2.1 p.p.) and Burkina Faso (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Zambia, Angola and Nigeria saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -5.7% and -7.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
