In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 37%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per ton), while Angola ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+1.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In value terms, the largest iron or steel towers importing markets in Africa were Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Angola ($X), with a combined 30% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Senegal, Uganda, Tanzania, Morocco, Kenya, Guinea, Ghana, Rwanda, Mozambique and Cameroon, which together accounted for a further 39%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Uganda, with a CAGR of +24.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 8.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per ton), while Uganda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+1.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
