Isocyanates Market Size in Africa

The African isocyanates market rose modestly to $X in 2022, picking up by X% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a slight reduction. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, isocyanates exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Morocco (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an X% share, followed by Uganda (X%). Tanzania (X tons) and Kenya (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of isocyanates. At the same time, Morocco (X%), Tanzania (X%), Uganda (X%) and Kenya (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Morocco (X p.p.), Uganda (X p.p.), Tanzania (X p.p.) and South Africa (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Tanzania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of isocyanates increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, isocyanates imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The countries with the highest levels of isocyanates imports in 2022 were Algeria (X tons), Egypt (X tons), South Africa (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Morocco (X tons), Kenya (X tons) and Tanzania (X tons), together finishing at X% of total import. Ethiopia (X tons), Libya (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Cameroon (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X), Egypt ($X) and Algeria ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports. Morocco, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Libya, Ghana, Tunisia, Cameroon and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2018 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
