Moreover, Djibouti emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +31.2% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Tanzania, Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Algeria and Djibouti increased by +6.4, +5.4, +4.3, +4.1, +3.4 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lead-acid accumulators (excluding starter batteries) in Africa, comprising 25% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kenya ($X), with a 7% share of total imports. It was followed by Algeria, with a 6.5% share.
