The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 19% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Liberia ($X per unit), while South Africa ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+37.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Mauritius (X units), Egypt (X units) and Nigeria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of -8.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Morocco (+11.1%), Mauritius (+5.1%) and Nigeria (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +11.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Algeria (-5.3%) and Egypt (-20.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Morocco, Mauritius and Algeria increased by +5.2, +2.6 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lifting equipment designed for mounting on road vehicles in Africa, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Morocco ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Algeria, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in South Africa totaled -5.7%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Morocco (+12.1% per year) and Algeria (+0.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 2.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price enjoyed pronounced growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 137% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Mauritius ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
