From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, liquid air and distilled water exports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 151%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per ton), while Rwanda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Africa

Liquid air and distilled water imports declined dramatically to X tons in 2021, waning by -25.1% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports showed a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, liquid air and distilled water imports dropped to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Mozambique (with a CAGR of +122.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported liquid or compressed air and distilled or conductivity water in Africa, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kenya ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Ghana, with a 6.3% share.
