In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 595% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, machine tools for working stone imports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 815% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Nigeria, with a CAGR of +2.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -15.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 98%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per unit), while Libya ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
