The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -57.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Namibia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+6.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 182%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electronic lamp machine imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight descent. In value terms, the largest electronic lamp machine importing markets in Africa were Egypt ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Sudan ($X), together accounting for 74% of total imports.

Sudan, with a CAGR of +45.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
