In value terms, electroplating machine exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 228% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

South Africa prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 79% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Somalia (X units) and Tanzania (X units), together making up a 16% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 315% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 5,100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Somalia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+38.4%).

In 2021, supplies from abroad of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis increased by 109% to X units, rising for the fourth consecutive year after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, faced a sharp curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 772% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electroplating machine imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 148% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Nigeria (X units) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units) represented the major importers of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis in Africa, together amounting to near 73% of total imports. South Africa (X units) held the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Algeria (X units). All these countries together took approx. 21% share of total imports. Morocco (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Democratic Republic of the Congo (with a CAGR of +46.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis in Africa, comprising 66% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Nigeria ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Algeria, with a 6.6% share.
In Democratic Republic of the Congo, electroplating machine imports expanded at an average annual rate of +44.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Nigeria (+5.4% per year) and Algeria (+38.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 2,458%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per unit), while South Africa ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
