In value terms, reticle manufacturing machine exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 483% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Morocco (X units) was the key exporter of machines for the manufacture of masks and reticles, semiconductor devices or electronic integrated circuits, constituting 37% of total exports. Cameroon (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Gabon (X units), Senegal (X units) and Tunisia (X units). In value terms, Morocco ($X) emerged as the largest reticle manufacturing machine supplier in Africa, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Gabon ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Senegal, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Morocco stood at +23.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Gabon (0.0% per year) and Senegal (+229.9% per year).

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 38% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 2,066% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while Congo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Senegal (+182.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of machines for the manufacture of masks and reticles, semiconductor devices or electronic integrated circuits, when their volume increased by 258% to X units. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 1,682% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, reticle manufacturing machine imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a slight downturn. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

South Africa represented the main importer of machines for the manufacture of masks and reticles, semiconductor devices or electronic integrated circuits in Africa, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was approx. 34% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Ethiopia (X units), Morocco (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Algeria (X units), together mixing up a 42% share of total imports. Angola (X units), Ghana (X units), Chad (X units), Kenya (X units) and Tanzania (X units) held a little share of total imports.
South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of machines for the manufacture of masks and reticles, semiconductor devices or electronic integrated circuits. At the same time, Ethiopia (+62.6%), Chad (+50.7%), Kenya (+28.0%), Angola (+25.8%) and Nigeria (+16.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ethiopia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +62.6% from 2012-2021. Algeria, Morocco and Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Tanzania (-9.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Ethiopia, Nigeria, Angola, Chad and Kenya increased by +13, +9.8, +3.4, +2.2 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest reticle manufacturing machine importing markets in Africa were South Africa ($X), Morocco ($X) and Nigeria ($X), with a combined 71% share of total imports.
Nigeria, with a CAGR of +73.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -19.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 5,769% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per unit), while Tanzania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+48.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
