From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mobile lifting frame exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a temperate expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2021, South Africa (X units) was the main exporter of mobile lifting frames on tyres and straddle carriers, constituting 28% of total exports. Mauritania (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 12% share, followed by Algeria (12%), Uganda (9%), Morocco (7.7%), Kenya (6%) and Ghana (5.7%).

Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of -8.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Ghana (+27.7%), Algeria (+7.7%), Morocco (+5.9%) and Mauritania (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +27.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kenya (-9.3%) and Uganda (-17.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mauritania (+12 p.p.), Algeria (+9.3 p.p.), Morocco (+5.9 p.p.), Ghana (+5.4 p.p.) and South Africa (+3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Uganda saw its share reduced by -10.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest mobile lifting frame supplier in Africa, comprising 9.5% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 1.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Kenya, with a 1.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa stood at -13.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (+44.9% per year) and Kenya (-5.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 473% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a strong expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Uganda ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+13.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of mobile lifting frames on tyres and straddle carriers increased by 36% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 106%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, mobile lifting frame imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 90%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Nigeria represented the major importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 50% of total imports. Morocco (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Tunisia (X units) and South Africa (X units). All these countries together held near 34% share of total imports. At the same time, Benin (+49.9%), Tunisia (+38.9%), Morocco (+20.1%) and South Africa (+14.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Benin emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +49.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Ethiopia (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Nigeria (+29 p.p.), Morocco (+9.3 p.p.), Tunisia (+9.2 p.p.), South Africa (+3.2 p.p.) and Benin (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Ethiopia (-5.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mobile lifting frames on tyres and straddle carriers in Africa, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Morocco ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Tunisia, with a 13% share.

In Nigeria, mobile lifting frame imports increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Morocco (+24.8% per year) and Tunisia (+43.0% per year).
