Monitors And Projectors Market Size in Africa

The African monitors and projectors market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after two years of decline. The total consumption indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, the amount of monitors and projectors exported in Africa expanded modestly to X units, growing by 2.1% on 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 108%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, monitors and projectors exports totaled $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Egypt dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 81% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by South Africa (X units), creating a 5.4% share of total exports. The following exporters - Swaziland (X units) and Tunisia (X units) - each accounted for a 3.9% share of total exports.

Egypt was also the fastest-growing in terms of the monitors and projectors exports, with a CAGR of +37.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Swaziland (+29.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Tunisia (-24.0%) and South Africa (-30.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Egypt (+80 p.p.) and Swaziland (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Tunisia and South Africa saw its share reduced by -7.2% and -55.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Egypt ($X) remains the largest monitors and projectors supplier in Africa, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Africa ($X), with a 7.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Swaziland, with a 1.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Egypt amounted to +28.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Africa (-32.6% per year) and Swaziland (+16.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 4.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 25%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Tunisia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (-3.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

In 2022, overseas purchases of monitors and projectors increased by 26% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, monitors and projectors imports rose notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Algeria represented the major importing country with an import of around X units, which reached 36% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X units), Kenya (X units) and South Africa (X units), together generating a 31% share of total imports. The following importers - Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Tanzania (X units), Morocco (X units), Ghana (X units), Tunisia (X units), Cameroon (X units), Swaziland (X units) and Botswana (X units) - together made up 19% of total imports.

Algeria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of monitors and projectors. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+27.0%), Swaziland (+17.4%), Cameroon (+16.5%), Kenya (+13.4%), Tanzania (+11.8%), Botswana (+9.1%) and Ghana (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +27.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Morocco (-4.0%), Tunisia (-8.6%), Egypt (-10.3%) and South Africa (-16.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Algeria (+15 p.p.), Kenya (+7.6 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+4.1 p.p.), Tanzania (+2.3 p.p.), Cameroon (+1.7 p.p.) and Swaziland (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Egypt (-11.8 p.p.) and South Africa (-18.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Algeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported monitors and projectors in Africa, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Morocco ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with an 8.9% share.

In Algeria, monitors and projectors imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Morocco (+9.1% per year) and Egypt (-11.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -10.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn.
