Mould For Glass Market Size in Africa

The African mould for glass market dropped remarkably to $X in 2021, declining by -30.8% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, showed buoyant growth. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Mould For Glass Production in Africa

In value terms, mould for glass production rose modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -33.7% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 22%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in Africa

In 2021, shipments abroad of moulds for glass decreased by -25.2% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 104%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mould for glass exports contracted remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, South Africa (X units) represented the key exporter of moulds for glass, achieving 37% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X units), Tunisia (X units), Kenya (X units) and Angola (X units), together committing a 53% share of total exports. Ethiopia (X units) and Nigeria (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to mould for glass exports from South Africa stood at -2.2%. At the same time, Angola (+123.5%), Kenya (+105.6%) and Egypt (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Angola emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +123.5% from 2012-2021. Ethiopia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Tunisia (-1.1%) and Nigeria (-25.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kenya (+13 p.p.), Angola (+12 p.p.), Egypt (+7.9 p.p.), Ethiopia (+4.1 p.p.), South Africa (+4 p.p.) and Tunisia (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Nigeria saw its share reduced by -29.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Tunisia ($X), South Africa ($X) and Kenya ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 71% share of total exports. Egypt, Angola, Ethiopia and Nigeria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.

Among the main exporting countries, Angola, with a CAGR of +151.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -26.2% against the previous year. Export price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, mould for glass export price increased by +8.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Angola (+12.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mould For Glass Imports

Imports in Africa

In 2021, mould for glass imports in Africa reduced remarkably to X units, falling by -51.2% on the year before. In general, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 631% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2020, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In value terms, mould for glass imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 141%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Morocco was the main importer of moulds for glass in Africa, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was near 46% of total imports in 2021. Nigeria (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by South Africa (X units) and Egypt (X units). All these countries together held near 46% share of total imports. Tanzania (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Morocco (with a CAGR of +46.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Morocco ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported moulds for glass in Africa, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Nigeria ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 15% share.

In Morocco, mould for glass imports expanded at an average annual rate of +25.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Nigeria (+10.2% per year) and Egypt (-3.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (+4.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
