As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, natural stone sett imports plummeted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 81% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined notably in the following year.

Morocco was the main importer of natural stone setts, kerbstones and flagstones in Africa, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 56% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X tons), Libya (X tons) and South Africa (X tons), together generating a 29% share of total imports. The following importers - Mauritania (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) - together made up 7.2% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to natural stone sett imports into Morocco stood at +6.2%. At the same time, South Africa (+39.8%), Cote d'Ivoire (+36.4%), Mauritania (+34.8%) and Egypt (+15.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Morocco ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported natural stone setts, kerbstones and flagstones in Africa, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Morocco amounted to +3.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Africa (+47.4% per year) and Egypt (+18.2% per year).

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 34% against the previous year.
