The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 198%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 159%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Mozambique prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 94% of total exports in 2021. Egypt (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Mozambique was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles exports, with a CAGR of -3.6% from 2012 to 2021. Egypt (-8.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Egypt decreased by -1.8 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
