Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, South Africa ($X), Algeria ($X) and Nigeria ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 43% share of total imports.

Nigeria, with a CAGR of +14.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 134% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 6,404% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit.
