Production By Country in Africa
The countries with the highest volumes of non-industrial diamond production in 2020 were Botswana (X tons), Angola (X tons) and South Africa (X tons), together accounting for X% of total production. Congo, Namibia, Lesotho and Sierra Leone lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of non-industrial diamond production, amongst the key producing countries, was attained by Lesotho (+X%), while non-industrial diamond production for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the production figures.

In value terms, non-industrial diamond exports dropped notably to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Angola (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) prevails in non-industrial diamond exports structure, together comprising X% of total exports. Zimbabwe (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2020, the growth imports failed to regain momentum.

South Africa prevails in non-industrial diamond imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2020. It was distantly followed by Tunisia (X tons) and Seychelles (X tons), together achieving a X% share of total imports.
From 2007 to 2020, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-industrial diamond imports into South Africa stood at -X%. At the same time, Tunisia (+X%) and Seychelles (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
