In 2022, the African frozen norway lobster market was finally on the rise to reach $X after three years of decline. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Mozambique represented the main exporter of frozen norway lobsters in Africa, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 59% of total exports in 2022. Morocco (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Tunisia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 40% share of total exports.

In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -19.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 53%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Mozambique ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, frozen norway lobster imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a buoyant expansion.
