In 2022, Morocco (X tons) was the largest exporter of optical fibers, bundles and cables, comprising X% of total exports. Tunisia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by South Africa (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Namibia (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) - each reached a X% share of total exports.

The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per ton), while Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Namibia (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, South Africa (X tons), distantly followed by Morocco (X tons), Ethiopia (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Kenya (X tons) and Tanzania (X tons) were the largest importers of optical fibers, bundles and cables, together achieving X% of total imports. Angola (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into South Africa increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Ethiopia (X%), Egypt (X%), Morocco (X%), Kenya (X%), Angola (X%), Tunisia (X%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%), Algeria (X%) and Tanzania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ethiopia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Nigeria (X%) and Cote d'Ivoire (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
