From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kenya, Morocco, South Africa and Tunisia increased by +82, +7.4, +5.2 and +3.3 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Kenya ($X) remains the largest p-xylene supplier in Africa, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Africa ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Morocco, with a 15% share.

In Kenya, p-xylene exports increased at an average annual rate of +34.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Africa (-34.8% per year) and Morocco (+105.8% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, surging by 56% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a abrupt slump. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
