Particle Board Market Size in Africa

The African particle board market declined slightly to $X in 2022, shrinking by -4.7% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, particle board imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 51%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Imports by Country

Algeria was the main importing country with an import of about X cubic meters, which finished at 35% of total imports. Morocco (X cubic meters) took an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Libya (5.8%), South Africa (5.5%), Zimbabwe (5.5%) and Tunisia (4.6%). Kenya (X cubic meters), Egypt (X cubic meters), Mozambique (X cubic meters), Namibia (X cubic meters), Botswana (X cubic meters), Zambia (X cubic meters) and Ghana (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Ghana (with a CAGR of +36.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Algeria ($X), Morocco ($X) and Zimbabwe ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 52% of total imports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 13% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
