Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports in Africa

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of parts of ball or roller bearings increased by 82% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, ball bearing parts imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decline. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Nigeria (X tons) was the largest importer of parts of ball or roller bearings, constituting 50% of total imports. South Africa (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 20% share, followed by Morocco (4.9%). Tanzania (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Nigeria, with a CAGR of +20.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -28.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 18%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+3.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
