Moreover, Uganda emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +61.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Botswana (-3.4%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (-23.1%) and Niger (-34.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Senegal (+14 p.p.), Uganda (+10 p.p.), Egypt (+10 p.p.), Libya (+6.3 p.p.), Mozambique (+6.1 p.p.), Mauritania (+4.1 p.p.), Botswana (+3 p.p.), Ethiopia (+2.8 p.p.), South Africa (+2.3 p.p.), Namibia (+2.2 p.p.) and Malawi (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Democratic Republic of the Congo (-1.8 p.p.) and Niger (-65.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported peroxides of sodium or potassium in Africa, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Niger ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Senegal, with an 8.7% share.

In South Africa, peroxides of sodium imports expanded at an average annual rate of +16.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Niger (-33.9% per year) and Senegal (-8.1% per year).
