The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per unit), while Kenya ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+3.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Africa
In 2022, plastic bath or sink imports in Africa skyrocketed to X units, rising by 26% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, plastic bath or sink imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 38%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Nigeria (X units) was the key importer of plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins, achieving 36% of total imports. Libya (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by South Africa (X units) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units). All these countries together took approx. 18% share of total imports. The following importers - Rwanda (X units), Ethiopia (X units), Angola (X units), Ghana (X units), Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Morocco (X units), Zambia (X units), Algeria (X units) and Cameroon (X units) - together made up 24% of total imports.
Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the plastic baths, shower-baths, sinks and wash-basins imports, with a CAGR of +26.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (+15.0%), Cote d'Ivoire (+12.1%), Cameroon (+4.6%), Rwanda (+3.8%) and South Africa (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Ethiopia (-1.8%), Zambia (-2.2%), Libya (-4.6%), Morocco (-4.7%), Ghana (-5.2%), Angola (-12.4%) and Algeria (-13.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Nigeria (+32 p.p.), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+3.5 p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Morocco (-1.8 p.p.), Ghana (-2.2 p.p.), Libya (-5.3 p.p.), Algeria (-7.4 p.p.) and Angola (-8.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest plastic bath or sink importing markets in Africa were Nigeria ($X), Libya ($X) and Morocco ($X), with a combined 32% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Nigeria, with a CAGR of +20.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -21.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 17%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
