In 2022, South Africa (X tons), distantly followed by Morocco (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Kenya (X tons) and Benin (X tons) were the key exporters of plastic boxes, cases, crates and similar packing articles, together comprising 77% of total exports. Tunisia (X tons), Burundi (X tons), Swaziland (X tons), Botswana (X tons), Namibia (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of +16.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Tunisia ($X), Morocco ($X) and South Africa ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 52% share of total imports.

Tunisia, with a CAGR of +12.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 7.6% against the previous year.
