Exports from Tunisia increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Egypt (+8.8%) and Senegal (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +8.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, South Africa (-3.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Tunisia (+19 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Africa saw its share reduced by -16.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Tunisia ($X), South Africa ($X) and Egypt ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 96% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Egypt, with a CAGR of +12.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, growing by 38% against the previous year. Export price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, polycarboxylic acid export price increased by +76.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
