Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Egypt amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+4.7%).

In 2022, overseas purchases of polyvinyl chloride increased by 6.1% to X tons, rising for the sixth year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 19%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, polyvinyl chloride imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 47%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, the largest polyvinyl chloride importing markets in Africa were Egypt ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Algeria ($X), together accounting for 52% of total imports. Morocco, South Africa, Botswana, Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, Ghana, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Djibouti lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.
Botswana, with a CAGR of +16.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. Import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, polyvinyl chloride import price increased by +57.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Botswana ($X per ton), while Ethiopia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
