Room Deodorants Market Size in Africa

The African room deodorants market shrank to $X in 2022, declining by -2.8% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, room deodorants exports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 70%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Egypt (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together constituting 90% of total exports. Tunisia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, room deodorants export price increased by +87.3% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 45%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, room deodorants imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Among the main importing countries, Senegal, with a CAGR of +33.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 13%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Senegal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
