The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, Namibia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prepared or preserved crab meat in Africa, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Somalia ($X), with a 1.1% share of total imports.

In Namibia, prepared or preserved crab meat imports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Somalia (+94.2% per year) and South Africa (-27.5% per year).
