In value terms, liquid dispensing pump exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 78%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

South Africa prevails in exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 87% of total exports in 2021. Togo (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Rwanda (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from South Africa increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Togo (+73.1%), Rwanda (+34.0%) and Nigeria (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Togo emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +73.1% from 2012-2021. While the share of South Africa (+4.1 p.p.), Togo (+2.9 p.p.) and Rwanda (+2 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest liquid dispensing pump supplier in Africa, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Nigeria ($X), with a 2.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Rwanda, with a 0.6% share.

In South Africa, liquid dispensing pump exports decreased by an average annual rate of -2.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Nigeria (-1.1% per year) and Rwanda (+26.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -1.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 207% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Togo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of pumps for dispensing liquids imported in Africa rose markedly to X units, growing by 6.9% on the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +22.8% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 94%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, liquid dispensing pump imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 106%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Ethiopia (X units), distantly followed by Nigeria (X units), South Africa (X units) and Tanzania (X units) were the major importers of pumps for dispensing liquids, together making up 66% of total imports. In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Zimbabwe ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (+12.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
