Pump For Liquid Market Size in Africa

The African pump for liquid market stood at $X in 2021, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, pump for liquid production contracted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +44.7% against 2018 indices. Exports in Africa

In 2021, overseas shipments of pumps for liquids and liquid elevators decreased by -6.1% to X units, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, pump for liquid exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a slight slump. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa was the main exporter of pumps for liquids and liquid elevators in Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was near 32% of total exports in 2021. Zambia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (6.2%), Ghana (5.1%), Nigeria (4.7%), Kenya (4.5%) and Tunisia (4.5%). Tanzania (X units), Namibia (X units), Togo (X units), Angola (X units), Burkina Faso (X units) and Rwanda (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of -6.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Togo (+32.9%), Kenya (+14.1%), Cote d'Ivoire (+11.8%), Rwanda (+10.2%), Angola (+8.5%) and Burkina Faso (+5.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Togo emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +32.9% from 2012-2021. Zambia and Tunisia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Nigeria (-3.7%), Tanzania (-5.8%), Ghana (-13.5%) and Namibia (-19.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Zambia (+5.1 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+4.9 p.p.), Kenya (+3.7 p.p.), Togo (+3 p.p.), Angola (+2.2 p.p.), Tunisia (+2 p.p.) and Rwanda (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Africa, Ghana and Namibia saw its share reduced by -2.3%, -5.5% and -9.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest pump for liquid supplier in Africa, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kenya ($X), with a 4.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Tunisia, with a 3.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa amounted to -1.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kenya (+19.2% per year) and Tunisia (+1.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 35% against the previous year. Export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, pump for liquid export price increased by +121.2% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 39% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Rwanda ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (+22.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Africa

After four years of growth, purchases abroad of pumps for liquids and liquid elevators decreased by -8.3% to X units in 2021. Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 25%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, pump for liquid imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Nigeria (X units) was the main importer of pumps for liquids and liquid elevators, comprising 38% of total imports. Zambia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by South Africa (9%) and Burkina Faso (5.6%). Algeria (X units), Ethiopia (X units), Morocco (X units), Mali (X units), Cameroon (X units), Egypt (X units), Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Zimbabwe (X units) and Angola (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Nigeria increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Mali (+28.0%), Algeria (+16.4%), Cote d'Ivoire (+16.0%), Zambia (+14.8%), Ethiopia (+9.5%), Zimbabwe (+7.0%), Cameroon (+5.6%), Morocco (+2.0%), South Africa (+1.7%) and Egypt (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mali emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +28.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Burkina Faso (-2.2%) and Angola (-8.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Zambia, Nigeria, Algeria and Mali increased by +6.4, +3, +2.8 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X), South Africa ($X) and Algeria ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 35% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Morocco, Egypt, Angola, Ethiopia, Cote d'Ivoire, Zambia, Mali, Zimbabwe, Cameroon and Burkina Faso, which together accounted for a further 32%.

Mali, with a CAGR of +16.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, surging by 38% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while Burkina Faso ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+6.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
