In value terms, goat hides and skins exports fell markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 125%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per ton), while Swaziland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+15.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

In 2021, the amount of goat or kid hides and skins imported in Africa reduced remarkably to X tons, falling by -44.5% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, posted a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 70%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, goat hides and skins imports declined sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 114% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
